Chioggia is the city where all the Venice fishing boats moor. Fish and seafood in its restaurants is probably the best in the world. It takes two hours to get there from Venice: vaporetto to Lido, then bus, which hops over the islands on a ferry, then another vaporetto. The old city is relatively small and somewhat resembles Venice because of the canals, churches and bridges, but without the magnificent palazzos. There is also transport and electric bikes are very popular: it is easy to carry them over the bridges. I walked over an old bridge just to discover that it does not reach the other side.
On the other side of Laguna del Lusenzo is the modern city of Sottomarina. Along the Ponte Isola dell’Unione there are houseboats advertising that you can rent them without a permit/license.
The city leaves a very vivid impression, I’ll get there again some day.
