"Death Valley is in full bloom, it happens once every 10 years". I had to go there and spent 2 days. The bloom is quite modest. My obligatory hike is Golden Canyon to Zabriskie Point and back. In part because of Antonioni's movie. And a powerful hike it is. It seems like Zabriskie was a ruthless boss for Chinese coolies, but the info presented about him was changing over the years. Many visitors, Chinese among them come to gawk from this point. The second hike I took was Mosaic Canyon. Death Valley is as close to paradise as is possible on Earth, Scotty, the local character used to say. He had a point.
